Ingredients (for 1 glass)
- 130 ml of red wine (preferably a robust wine like Merlot, Syrah, or Bordeaux)
- 70 ml of orange juice (freshly squeezed or without pulp if possible)
- 1 to 2 teaspoons of spice blend for mulled wine
Ingredients (for a group, 4 to 6 people)
- 750 ml of red wine
- 400 ml of orange juice
- 35 g of mulled wine spice blend
Preparation
Heating:
-
- Pour the red wine into a saucepan.
- Add the orange juice and the spice blend.
- Gently heat over medium heat without boiling (the wine should not exceed 70°C to preserve the alcohol).
- Let it simmer for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the spices to release their flavors.
Optional Spice Infusion:
-
- For a stronger flavor, let the mixture rest off the heat for an additional 5 minutes with a lid on.
Serving:
-
- Strain the mulled wine using a fine sieve if necessary.
- Serve hot in mugs or heatproof glasses.
Tips:
-
- Add a sweet touch with 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey, maple syrup, or sugar to taste.
- For extra freshness, add a slice of orange or lemon to each glass.
- For a more indulgent flavor, incorporate a small piece of vanilla or a pinch of freshly grated ginger.
- For a non-alcoholic version, replace red wine with red grape juice and follow the same steps for an equally delicious drink.
