Kefta Tagine with Terre Exotique Spices

 

 
 
 

 

Ingredients for the Keftas: 

  • 500 g ground meat
  • 1 grated onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 bunch of chopped cilantro and parsley
  • 1 tbsp couscous spice blend
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs

Ingredients for the Sauce: 

 

Preparation: 

    1. Prepare the Keftas:

      • In a bowl, mix the ground meat with the grated onion, garlic, cilantro, parsley, Terre Exotique couscous spice blend, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the egg and breadcrumbs for better texture.

      • Form small meatballs, about the size of a walnut, and set aside.

    2. Prepare the Sauce:

      • In a tagine (or deep pan), heat the olive oil over medium heat.

      • Sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.

      • Add the crushed tomatoes, couscous spice blend, cumin, paprika, mild chili powder, salt, and pepper.

      • Cover and let simmer for 15 minutes.

    3. Cook the Keftas:

      • Add the meatballs to the tomato sauce and let them cook over low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    4. Add the Eggs:

      • Make small wells in the sauce and crack the eggs directly into them.

      • Cover and cook for a few minutes until the egg whites are set but the yolks remain runny.

    5. Serving:

      • Serve hot directly in the tagine, accompanied by fresh bread or couscous.

      • Garnish with fresh cilantro for extra flavor.
