About Penja Pepper

Penja white pepper is harvested when ripe and then sun-dried in the Moungo province of Cameroon. It now enjoys worldwide gastronomic success. In 2014, it became the first Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) on the African continent.

Penja Pepper by Terre Exotique

In 1930, Mr. Decré, a banana planter, decided to diversify his crops by introducing the first pepper plants to Penja. The annual production of Penja pepper was then limited to 18 tonnes. It was during a trip to Cameroon in the 1990s that Erwann de Kerros discovered this famous pepper. Freshly graduated, he did his first internship on a farm and developed a passionate interest in pepper. Thus, in Penja, the idea of Terre Exotique was born.
