Swedish Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients for the recipe:
For the dough:
- 500 g of flour
- 60 g of sugar
- 10 g of dry baker's yeast
- 25 cl of whole milk
- 100 g of cold butter
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of fine salt
For the spread:
- 60 g of Terre Exotique brown sugar
- 50 g of melted butter
- 3 teaspoons of Ceylon cinnamon powder
For the icing:
- 120 g of powdered sugar
- 1 egg white
Methods:
- Warm the milk and add the yeast to activate it.
- In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, and salt. Add the egg and yeast, then start kneading before incorporating the butter while continuing to knead for about ten minutes. Let the dough rest for 1 hour and 30 minutes, covering it with a cloth.
- Meanwhile, prepare the spread: mix melted butter with cinnamon and brown sugar, then set aside.
- Uncover your dough, it should have doubled in size. Punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface using a rolling pin.
- Spread the cinnamon mixture over the dough, then cut strips about 5 cm wide.
- Roll the strips into spirals and place them in a baking dish. Cover the dish with a cloth and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F) and bake the rolls for 25 minutes.
- Once baked, make the icing: mix powdered sugar with the egg white and drizzle it over the rolls.
- Enjoy your cinnamon rolls with hot chocolate or chai tea to enhance the cinnamon flavors.
