Spiced Apple Compote Recipe with Vanilla, Cinnamon, and Ginger

Instructions

  • Prepare the apples: peel, core, and cut them into pieces.

  • In a saucepan, add the apple pieces, water, cinnamon, split vanilla bean (scrape the seeds and add them as well), and grated fresh ginger.

  • Let simmer over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender.

  • Remove the vanilla bean, then mash the apples with a fork or blend them to your preferred texture (smooth or chunky).

  • Taste and sweeten with sugar or honey as desired.
