Spiced Apple Compote Recipe with Vanilla, Cinnamon, and Ginger


Ingredients for the recipe:
- 4 apples (Golden or Pink Lady variety)
- 1 vanilla bean (or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract)
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 piece of fresh ginger (about 2 cm) or 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of sugar (or honey, to taste)
- 100 ml of water

Prepare the apples: peel, core, and cut them into pieces.

In a saucepan, add the apple pieces, water, cinnamon, split vanilla bean (scrape the seeds and add them as well), and grated fresh ginger.

Let simmer over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender.

Remove the vanilla bean, then mash the apples with a fork or blend them to your preferred texture (smooth or chunky).

Taste and sweeten with sugar or honey as desired.
