Gin, Grapefruit, Agave Syrup, and Voatsiperifery Pepper Cocktail
Ingredients (for two glasses):
- 10 cl gin
- 1 large pink grapefruit (freshly juiced)
- Voatsiperifery pepper
- Tonic water
- Ice cubes
- Grapefruit zest and fresh thyme sprigs (for garnish)
- Brown sugar
- Cherry syrup
- Whole cherries
Glass Preparation:
- Moisten the rim of the glasses with a wedge of grapefruit.
- Dip the rim into golden sugar or brown sugar for a festive frosted effect.
Infusion Preparation:
- Mix freshly squeezed grapefruit juice (about 15 cl) with Voatsiperifery pepper grains.
- Let infuse for 5 minutes, then strain to remove the pepper pieces.
Cocktail Preparation:
- In a shaker, combine the gin, pepper-infused grapefruit juice, and cherry syrup.
- Add a few ice cubes and shake vigorously.
Serving:
- Fill the glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour the strained mixture into the glasses.
- If a lighter version is desired, top with a splash of tonic water.
Decoration:
- Add a spiral of grapefruit zest to each glass.
- Place a fresh thyme sprig and optionally a cinnamon stick for an aromatic and festive touch, along with a few cherries in the glass.
